Temporary Worldspot outage?
« on: January 19, 2007, 11:06:43 pm »
Just letting you know that your servers seemed to be down for 12-20hrs until approx 1300UTC 18-jan-07. The couple of users on my hotspot (NMH) that day couldn't get a redirect page, and I couldn't access www.worldspot.net.
No major problem for now, but might be of interest to you. Cheers

Yes, I know.
The 2 worldspot servers were up and running but the 2 worldspot DNSes (at my provider's) went down.
It should have lasted about 9-10 hours.
I've been alerted by one of my monitors but I could still access the servers. This is why I didn't suspect the DNSes until the next morning.
I've now corrected that problem by adding 2 more dns servers located in the states. Now there are 4 DNSes serving the worldspot domain.

There should be no more problems from that point of view.

I am really sorry for the inconvenience, and I'm doing everything to keep the worldspot service reliable.

Hello

There has a been a backup going wrong eating up all disk space, and blocking the server.
This should have been restored now.

Note: To switch to the USA server, simply change the uam service from https://secure.worldspot.net to https://secure2.worldspot.net
For coova, simply change the configuration url from secure to secure2.worldspot.net

I will make automatic failover scripts one day for coova.

My sincere apologies for the trouble.

Best regards

Yes. My users and myself had a problem also, this morning. I switched to secure2 just like when there was a cert chain problem on secure.worldspot.net, and this bypassed the problem.

So it's working again?

Regards.

Yes both servers are up and running
Note that the USA server will move again in the next days/weeks so expect an IP change.

Sorry again for the trouble.
